I Now Understand.

I won't mention the series but the last book for one of the many series I'm into came out recently and so I decided to look on the Nook store to see how much it was. $10.99!!! FOR WHAT?! I understand that publishers charge a lot for book bindings, photographers, etc. But shouldn't e-books get a discount?! As a college student who can't even afford to support herself, I cannot pay $11 for a book that I'm only going to read once.
I checked my library and found out that they haven't even bought any new teen books in like 2 years, which I thought was a shock because since I work in the library, I keep seeing loads of new books for children and adults. They didn't even have the e-book version on the website, just the audiobook version and I personally can't stand audiobooks because I have a problem of tuning people out and like to listen to instrumental music while reading books.
I even checked Walmart.com to see how much they're asking. It's still $11.
I now understand why people illegally download books. I don't support it and I never do it (unless it was college textbooks then I'd be all over them like a fly over garbage. Not that I've ever heard of anyone finding any ironically.) because I understand that these are authors' jobs and that it's hard enough to make ends meet as it is. But can't they make books cheaper? Loads more people would be buying the books then. Now I will have to either wait until my boss buys it, finishes it, and lends it to me, or wait until it gets cheaper which will take about a year or two. This seriously sucks!
